MIDA Newton

Douglass Williams, chef-owner of the South End’s award-winning MIDA, brings the vibe (and pastas) of his original much-loved Boston restaurant out to the ‘burbs, with a second location in Newton – a delightful offshoot with all the magic of its city sibling.

The menu varies from its downtown sibling, including some different pizza options, but MIDA lovers will also recognize some of the same touches as the original location throughout the appetizers, pastas and mains. The Newton spot boasts an ambitious wine list with thoughtfully selected vintages (by-the-glass and the bottle) from offbeat regions and producers alongside some of bigger, well-known labels. There is also a rotating selection of innovative cocktails and regional craft beers.

The space is simple yet chic and inviting, echoing some of the urban vibe of downtown with a cozy feel. There is warm lighting throughout, with dining areas that are perfect for a meetup or a family dinner. The restaurant is just steps from the commuter rail, so you can have an extra glass of wine or two and not worry about driving, 'though there’s plenty of free parking behind the building, too.
