About

Located in Somerville’s Union Square, Bronwyn takes its culinary cues from chef-owner Tim Wiechmann’s German ancestry and love of Central-Eastern European fare. The menu features regional fare from Austria, Northern Italy, Poland, Romania and Hungary – hand-twisted sausages, whole grain breads and variations on the versatile noodle. Diners will notice New England influences as well; Wiechmann’s seasonal offerings will feature plenty of locally-sourced produce.

Bronwyn balances the rustic feel of a European tavern with the artistic spirit of Somerville. The dining room is decked out with handcrafted treasures of the Wiechmann’s travels, as well as a few family heirlooms including his great-grandparents’ iron chandeliers and hand stitched “heimatwerk.” Gothic hand-crafted chairs, cushioned with plush velvet, stand prominently around slatted wood tables, with period hutches serving as both decoration and utility.

Re-claimed wood from the beaches of Maine forms the base of the biergarten tables, where diners and drinkers can enjoy a plate of wursts accompanied by a stein or two during the summer months.
